About me

Hi, I’m Steph. I specialise in creating scalable design systems for mobile and web experiences that empower teams and delight users.

I’m currently part of the design systems team at Chase. But before that I spent 6+ years at Wise (formerly TransferWise), joined a JPMorganChase 0-1 startup, and even had a previous career as a content designer.

When I’m not playing with components in Figma, you’ll find me kayaking along the river Lea, making jewellery, and watching shark documentaries.

I love geeking out over component architecture, interaction patterns, token management, theming, governance and all the other design system fun stuff. I believe that design systems are essential product infrastructure and applying a systems thinking mindset can have a significant impact — enhancing quality, increasing speed, and reducing debt.
I’m a self-taught, craft-motivated designer, that enjoys continually pushing myself to explore new skills and stay up-to-date with industry trends. My experience at Wise and Chase, and across product and content design, means I can offer a unique a range of skills, including UX, UI, systems, and storytelling.
AI is already a core part of my workflow and I’m currently obsessing over how to leverage its power for UX processes, design tooling, and rapid prototyping. I believe design systems are critical in supporting AI and helping teams adapt to the design tools of the future.
Accessibility is not a nice-to-have. The best digital products work for everyone. I have extensive experience of applying accessibility best practices, designing for screenreader navigation, and helping teams to build accessibility into the design process from the start.
